If you’re considering applying for work with live-insupport.co.uk you may a have a few questions. Hopefully we’ve covered most of them below.

Does the role of live-in care require that I move away from home and live with the client?

Yes, a live-in care worker lives in the client’s home and is on hand 24/7. Most of our care workers work for blocks of 5 to 8 weeks between breaks, but, each case is individual so there may be the option of worker shorter terms.

Where are your clients based?

Live-insupport.co.uk has clients all over England and Wales. We do our best to place care workers in the areas of choice but we do expect a certain amount of travelling to the contracts.

Who will I be employed by?

You will be directly employed by live-insupport.co.uk and we will pay your wages, less your NI and tax contributions.

How often will I get paid?

Our live-in care workers are paid on a weekly basis.

How much will I get paid?

The live-in care worker wage ranges from £360 - £450 per week (before Tax & National Insurance deductions). The actual amount is subject to your qualifications and will also depend on the level of care required for the particular client.

What daily tasks will I be expected to complete?

 The tasks vary but for example, live-in care workers can support you with:

  • Personal care e.g. getting up, going to the toilet, bathing, washing, dressing, assisting with medication
  • Companionship e.g. conversation, reading
  • Household tasks e.g. housework, laundry, cooking, shopping, pet care
  • Errands e.g. collecting prescriptions or posting letters
  • Paper work e.g. letter writing or filling in forms
  • Socialising e.g. visiting friends
  • Assisting you at work or studies
  • Palliative care e.g. helping someone remain in their own home through terminal illness.

Will I have my own room?

Yes, it is a condition of the contract that each care worker will have their own bedroom for private space.

Am I entitled to any daily breaks?

Yes, as a general rule you will be entitled to a 2 hour break per day.  Each case is individual so if the client is out or with family, you may be able to take a longer break.  This will always be agreed beforehand.

Are there training opportunities?

Yes, at live-insupport.co.uk we believe in the continuous professional development of our care workers. As well as the four day induction course there are numerous on-going training opportunities.

Do you prepare support plans for clients?

Yes, an individual support plan is written during the assessment of each client. The plan will detail medication, medical conditions and all assistance required for day to day care.

Do you carry out Risk Assessments?

Yes, when a client confirms that they would like to go ahead with live-in care, a member of our assessment team visits the client to perform a Risk Assessment. The information from the Risk Assessment will be detailed in the support plan.

Do I need to have a police check?

 Yes, all our care workers are subject to a CRB check (Criminal Records Bureau). Police checks from other countries are no longer valid in the U.K. Please look at the CRB website to check you can comply.  The check costs £36.00 and is returned to you after 30 days of work for us.

Will there be someone to contact in an emergency?

Absolutely; our care worker are never left unsupported. If an emergency takes place within office hours, you can call your dedicated live-in Care Manager. If it happens outside office hours then you have access 24/7 support via a dedicated phone line, where you can speak to someone for help, advice and guidance.
